About Us 

Lenchita’s Mexican Restaurant has been a proud staple of the San Fernando Valley for over 48 years. Family-owned and operated since day one, our story began with a dream, a few family recipes, and just four tables.
 

It all started with “Abuela” Angelita Alvarez Renteria, who was born right here in the Valley. At the age of four, her family moved to Michoacán, Mexico, where she grew up immersed in the traditions and flavors of authentic Mexican cooking. It was there she would met her husband, Vicente, and together they returned to Los Angeles with a vision to share their love of food and culture.

In 1977, Angelita opened the original Lenchita’s—a tiny restaurant with just four tables and handmade tortillas that had customers lining up down the block. By 1992, the demand for her delicious food outgrew the space, and Lenchita’s moved one block over to its current location on Van Nuys Blvd in Pacoima.

At Lenchita’s we’re best known for our handmade tortillas, fresh, high-quality ingredients, and unbeatable prices. But the real legend? Our famous short ribs. They’re so popular we often sell out everyday! We also offer fresh masa to make your own homemade tortillas and tamales year-round.
 

Our restaurant is truly a family affair—over 25 family members have worked at Lenchita’s over the years, and many still do. As with our own family, Lenchita’s is where generations gather.
